The key to challenging market conditions is to raise your business profile, an expert from Drake and Scull (DSI) has said.

Speaking at Construction Week Dubai Conference on Tuesday, DSI general manager and director of MEP Charles Leaver told delegates to think about market and brand recognition.

“Business should show what they are capable of. Brag about prestigious projects, that’s what we do. People need to show other clients what they can bring to a project,” he said.

Leaver also insisted that the businesses that fail are the businesses which are resistant to change, particularly when it comes to following sustainable trends.

“We can’t just get the lowest prices all the time at the cost of providing sustainable solutions.”

In addition, he advised businesses on how to face problems during the current economic times.

“There is poor cash collection and cash flow in the market, but people should be open and honest about them,” he insisted.

“When there is limited finance available, businesses need to look at projects and make sure they can be funded.”
