Pierlite Middle East, a leading manufacturer of light fittings and accessories, is bucking the downturn by forging ahead with a major expansion of its local manufacturing operation.

The company has completed the first phase of an AED22 million upgrade. This will add 9 290 square metres to the existing facility, which will have a total output of 1.2 million recessed ceiling light fitting units and louvres a year, in addition to 1.8 million batten fittings.

The expanded facility in the Sharjah Airport International Free (SAIF) Zone was inaugurated by Sheikh Abdullah Bin Mohammed Al Thani, chairman of Sharjah Aviation and SAIF Zone, at a function held at the factory premises on 21 April 2010. The company was established in 2008.

“The current recession will realign global markets. The Middle East will be the epicentre of the post-recession global economy, and now is the time to invest,” said Pierlite Middle East MD Lalu Samuel.

“This increased capacity will enhance our market share substantially. Our current capability for technical support, design and marketing for the Middle East and African countries will also be doubled by this expansion,” said Samuel.

Pierlite’s vertically-integrated manufacturing system, coupled with in-house component production, gives it the ability to make luminaires to the required standards. “Our range of luminaires is industry-researched, expert-designed, laboratory-tested and precision-crafted. We are using advanced production techniques to maximise production efficiency and luminaire quality,” said Samuel.

Pierlite's products range from batten fittings, mirror lights, wall and ceiling lights, bulk heads, emergency lights, high bays, flood lights and troffers to GLS lamps, candle lamps, circular lamps, diachroic lamps, flourescent lamps, energy-saving lamps, LED lights, direct/indirect lights and LED downlights.

The company also offers solar-powered and energy-efficiency streetlights for areas that do not have access to grid power. Headquartered in Australia, Pierlite has over 75 years’ experience in manufacturing light fixtures and components.
