Two more DIC substations completed
Substations #2 and #3 in DIC are complete, with #4 due for completion.
DEWA has completed two additional 132 kVA substations in Dubai Industrial City (DIC), following an 18-month construction programme.
Construction work is progressing on a fourth substation, anticipated to be operational by the second quarter of 2010. “We expect the fourth 132 kVA substation to be completed at the industrial destination in the next few months,” said DEWA MD and CEO HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer.
“The increasing demand by manufacturing companies has necessitated the building of four power substations in DIC. DEWA is working closely with the management, in line with an MoU signed earlier, to ensure the availability of adequate capacity for handling the surge in energy requirements,” said Al Tayer.
“The supply of the second and third substations reflects DEWA’s commitment towards facilitating DIC’s operations and catering to the steadily increasing number of investors at the destination,” said manufacturing and logistics cluster MD Abdullah Belhoul.
Located on Emirates Road near the new Al Maktoum Airport, DIC offers a strategic advantage due to its proximity to major highways, and its proximity to the Jebel Ali Port.
Covering an area of 560 million square feet, it offers a dedicated manufacturing destination comprising six industrial clusters: food and beverage, base metal, mineral products, chemicals, transport equipment and parts and machinery and mechanical equipment.
