UK-based Gripple Ltd, which is the manufacturer of Hang-Fast - a mechanical and electrical suspension system - has gained a foothold in the Middle East. The company has joined forces with locally based electrical construction products supplier, Sentor Electrical.

To date, projects supplied in the region include Dubai International Airport, where Hang-Fast has been installed to suspend light fittings and seismic bracing; at shopping centres in Muscat, Oman; schools in Kuwait and electrical substations in Dubai.

Mark Robinson, regional manager (Middle East), Gripple, said: "With the huge amount of construction work taking place, and planned for the future, there is tremendous potential for Hang-Fast in the region. I am confident that, given Sentor's vast experience, it will not be long before Hang-Fast becomes the region's product of choice for the suspension and bracing of fixed loads."

Hang-Fast kits - comprising a length of steel wire rope, a patented Gripple self-locking device, which is used to adjust the free end, a setting key and a choice of end fixings - are discreet, light, strong, flexible and up to six times faster to install than threaded rod or chain.

According to the company, since Hang-Fast's 1999 launch, it has secured approximately one fifth of the mechanical and engineering suspension market in the UK and France and is gaining widespread acceptance in the US, just five years after its trans-Atlantic launch.
