The UAE government has granted a three-month grace period to illegal expatriates to adjust their status or leave the country without penalty.

The Consulate General of India, Dubai has said that it is in close touch with local authorities and various Indian associations and is making arrangements for opening collection centres in Dubai and the Northern Emirates for receiving applications from Indian nationals who wish to apply for Emergency Certificates.

Details of the collection centres are expected to be announced soon.

Indians who have valid passports are allowed to approach the immigration authorities directly so that they can exit the UAE under this scheme.
