RTA launches public transport plans

The Dubai Roads and Transport Authority will spend over US $9.5 billion (AED35 billion) on public transport by 2020.

The Dubai Roads and Transport Authority will spend over US $9.5 billion (AED35 billion) on public transport by 2020.

The plan includes the construction of 318km of metro lines, 270km of tramlines and the addition of 3,000 buses to the existing fleet.

A total of $7 billion will be spent on road construction. By 2008 the road network will be increased by 400km with 47 new routes and 67 new pedestrian crossings.
