Mubadala Development Company, Abu Dhabi’s diverse state-backed project investment firm, has cancelled a tender for football stadium in the UAE capital, according to newswire reports of a letter to contractors.

The letter stated that the AED5 billion project, on behalf of Abu Dhabi Sports Council, was to be put on hold after receiving five bids for the main contract.

The initial tender deadline was 24th May and the tender bonds were due to expire 17th October. Arabian Construction Company, Samsung Corporation, Ed Zublin, Taisei Corporation, China State Construction Engineering Corp and Consolidated Contractors Company were among the companies that had prequalified.

Mubadala invests in long-term, capital–intensive projects in sectors such as real estate, housing, infrastructure, IT and healthcare. Last week, the company signed two collaboration agreements with the iMalaysia Development Berhad over a $ 7billion aluminium project.
