Managing partner of design firm Lacasa, Emad Jaber, said he was optimistic about the company’s growth over the next 12 months despite major challenges such as “high competition” and “slow business” in the Middle East, he told Construction Week.

Speaking on the eve of his inclusion in the 2019 Power 100 list, Construction Week's annual ranking of the Middle East's most influential industry leaders, Jaber said Lacasa was also focused on working with clients to reach settlements before project completion as a measure to avoid disputes.

Led by Jaber, Lacasa employs 400 full-time engineers as of 2019, of which 52 are women.

The managing partner said Lacasa expected 5% revenue growth between 2018 and 2019.

Between June 2018 and May 2019, Lacasa has been involved as design and supervision consultantfor Lacasa Mall, formerly known as the Mall of Palestine; the Prive by Damac twin towers in Dubai’s Business Bay; The Exchange in Dubai International Financial Centre; staff accommodation for Dubai's Atlantis; and Dubai’s 4.7ha Art of Living Mall.

Lacasa is currently involved in the same capacity for Dubai Creek Hotel; a four-plot unnamed project in Jumeirah Village Circle; a hotel in Uganda; and an airport in Yemen.

Jaber said Lacasa would offer building information modelling courses and workplace safety awareness programmes in 2019.

Additionally, he has initiated paid internship and scholarship programmes for students as part of Lacasa's corporate social responsibility initiatives.

According to Jaber, the UAE, Saudi Arabia, and Palestine are among Lacasa's important growth markets in the Middle East in 2019.

The 2019 Construction Week Power 100 list will be published in the 29 June, 2019 issue of the magazine, and Jaber will feature in the list.
