Podcast: What does the future hold for oil and gas EPC contractors?
This week's Construction Week Viewpoint podcast discusses opportunities and challenges for the likes of McDermott and L&T
The oil and gas sector has seen some drastic changes in the past year, with engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) contractors following suit to cater to the ever-changing industry.
As the region’s national oil companies have moved to integrate vertically and boost their downstream portfolios, so too have EPC contractors.
With this in mind, Carla Sertin, editor of Construction Week's sister title Oil and Gas Middle East, joins Jack Ball, Construction Week’s senior reporter, in this week’s episode of the Construction Week Viewpoint podcast.
Together they run through the 2019 iteration of Oil & Gas Middle East's Top 30 EPC Contractors 2019 list, touching on the opportunities, challenges, and major moves for EPC contractors, such as America's McDermott – a big jumper in this year’s list – and India's Larsen and Toubro (L&T), as we near H2 2019.
The effects of oil price fluctuations is also discussed in this episode, with upstream contractors likely to benefit from price hikes as operators spend on development and redevelopment schemes.
Business leaders are regular podcast special guests. The weekly bulletin has welcomed the likes of Harj Dhaliwal, managing director for the Middle East and India at Virgin Hyperloop One, Rizwan Sajan, founder of Dubai-headquartered building giant Danube Group, and tech entrepreneur Karim Helal, co-founder and CEO of building portal ProTenders.
