Millennium Hotels MEA has taken legal action against Makkah Construction, the owner of Millennium Hotel and Towers in Saudi Arabia, for “unlawfully, and in contrary to the terms of the operating and management agreement", interfering with its exclusive rights in the management and operation of the facility.

Meanwhile, on 13 June, Makkah Construction said in a missive to Saudi bourse, Tadawul, that it was terminating its contract with Millennium.

The company also expressed “deep regret” for its guests who may have been caused any “inconvenience" during their stay at Makkah Millennium Hotel and Towers.

According to Construction Week's sister title Hotelier Middle East, the nature of the inconveniences was not specified by Millennium in its statement.

However, the hotel group said it was “confident in the Saudi judiciary system in the protection of rights and imposing justice”.
