Saudi Arabia, India repatriate 39 construction workers to Telangana

Countries work together to send home Indian construction workers that were unpaid for six months

Indian workers have returned to Telangana.
Indian workers have returned to Telangana.

Thirty-nine workers of Indian origin from the Nirmal, Nizamabad, and Adilabad districts in Telangana have reportedly returned to their home country after not being paid by their construction sector employer in Saudi Arabia for the last six months.

The company hiring the workers had also reportedly accommodated its workers in poor living conditions.

A Twitter appeal to Indian state party Telangana Rashtra Samithi’s working president, KT Rama Rao, led him to request the Indian Embassy in Riyadh and Telangana chief secretary, SK Joshi, to address the issue.

Local daily India Today reported that the embassy had arranged temporary exit visas and flight tickets for the workers.

Rao thanked the government and India's overseas agencies for resolving the issue, the report added.
