The senior vice president for real estate at Dubai World Trade Centre (DWTC), Gurjit Singh, has spent four years working for the project developer. The company employs 10,000 unskilled workers and 60 engineers.
DWTC has noted completion on projects including nine offices in One Central; 4,300 and 2,700 parking bays at One Central and Happiness Street Car Park, respectively; and road, utilities, and district cooling infrastructure for 2,300 residential units in Expo Village.
DWTC awarded interior fit-out and joinery company Abanos a $13.4m (AED49.2m) contract for Dubai Expo Village in September 2018.
Singh says that completing all of its developments at the Expo 2020 Dubai site on time is one of the major challenges that the company will face in the next 12 months.
He also notes that the company has not recorded any disputes at what he calls a “need-to-resolve level” to date.
