As managing director of Laing O’Rourke Middle East, Mark Andrews has consistently featured in the Construction Week Power 100. He has been responsible for steering the UK construction company’s regional business since 2014.

Laing O’Rourke’s portfolio of current projects includes site-wide services and Thematic District fit-out works for Expo 2020 Dubai. The company is also building the Leadership and Media pavilions for the expo, as well as its “Hammerhead” road, under two $182.4m (AED670m) contracts.

In January of this year, Laing O’Rourke announced that it had agreed refinancing terms for its business for the next three years.

October 2018 saw the contractor delay its 2017-18 annual report due to “historic turbulence” in the building sector. Ray O’Rourke, chief executive of Laing O’Rourke, said the construction industry was being “starved of oxygen”.
