2019 CW Power 100: Richard Beard of Ramboll Mideast, Apac is #39
EXCLUSIVE: Managing director of Ramboll's Middle East and Asia Pacific business returns to 2019 CW Power 100
A veteran in the Middle East region, with more than 25 years of experience, the managing director for the Middle East and Asia Pacific at Ramboll, Richard Beard, is optimistic that current digitisation trends have helped create more opportunities for businesses in the region.
Last year, Ramboll implemented Grasshopper, a parametric design tool, to perform engineering services.
In 2018, revenue for the company’s Middle East operations stood at $64m (AED235m), which was 4% of its global revenue, which was recorded at $1.6bn in the same period.
Ramboll has undertaken structural and geo-technical engineering for the expansion of Majid Al Futtaim’s Ajman City Centre development to an area of 14,000m2.
The firm is currently carrying out mechanical, electrical, and plumbing, and sustainable design services, for the Address-branded Jumeirah Gate in Dubai Marina.
Between June 2018 and May 2019, Ramboll worked as the lead consultant – appointed by U+A – on Dubai Properties’ DP Waterfront Residential project, which is located in the city’s Business Bay area. Ramboll was also appointed to provide consultancy services for the construction of Dubai Internet City’s Innovation Hub.
Beard tells Construction Week: “The single biggest challenge facing our business over the next 12 months will be to continue to create and deliver value with our partners and clients that differentiates us from our competitors and meets our own ambitions as a company.”
