A civil engineer by trade, with 28 years’ experience at contracting and consulting firms across the Middle East, Africa, and Europe, Dr Kamiran Ibrahim has been the chief executive officer of Arcadis since 2017.

The Dutch construction consultancy started 2019 with less-than-desirable results for its business last year, reporting a net loss of $30.5m for 2018 – led by a goodwill impairment of $45m that was driven by the reassessment of its Middle East operation.

Arcadis’s free cash flow improved to $168.3m, mostly due to “a disciplined approach across the company, and $28m collected on overdue receivables in [Saudi Arabia] in the first half of 2018”.
