2019 CW Power 100: Lacasa's Emad Jaber takes #60 spot
Managing partner Emad Jaber has been at the helm of the multi-service consultancy firm for more than 13 years
As managing partner of design firm Lacasa, Emad Jaber has been at the helm of the company for more than 13 years.
A multi-service consultancy, Lacasa has been undertaking design and supervision for projects including Dubai Creek hotel projects, a hotel in Uganda, an airport in Yemen, and four plots in the Dubai-based development Jumeriah Village Circle (JVC).
Jaber predicts the company’s revenue for the fiscal year 2019 will reach $42m (AED154.3m), which indicates a surge of $2m (AED7.4m) – or a 5% rise – on 2018’s corresponding figure of $40m (AED146.9m).
The firm, which has a team of 400 full-time engineers, and employs 52 women, looks to spend more than $400,000 (AED1.5m) on employee training and development in 2019. This includes building information modelling courses and workplace-safety training.
As part of its corporate social responsibility initiatives, the firm offers paid internships and scholarships to students, with a budget of $400,000 (AED1.5m) for this scheme in 2019.
According to Jaber, the UAE, Saudi Arabia, and Palestine are among the most important growth markets in the Middle East for Lacasa in 2019. However, he tells Construction Week that he believes the single biggest opportunity for the company over the next 12 months will be in Syria.
Jaber cites “slow business in the region” and the highly competitive nature of the sector as two of the biggest challenges facing the firm over the coming year.
