2019 CW Power 100: Jae-Hyun Ahn of South Korea's SKEC is #98
President and CEO of SK Engineering and Construction (SKEC) debuts in 2019 CW Power 100 ranking
A new entry to the 2019 Construction Week Power 100 is the president and chief executive officer of South Korea-based SK Engineering and Construction (SKEC), Jae-Hyun Ahn.
In February, SKEC was awarded an engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) contract valued at $1.2bn (AED4.4bn) by Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (Adnoc) to construct the largest single storage facility in the emirate of Fujairah.
Approximately 50% of the contract spend will feed back into the UAE economy through Adnoc’s In-Country Value programme, it was announced at the time of the contract award.
The company will be implementing design, build, civil, and track works for the 139km Package A of Etihad Rail’s 605km Stage 2 along with China State Construction and Engineering Corporation Middle East (CSCEC ME), under a contract that is valued at $408.4m (AED1.5bn).
The 139km route will comprise a standard-gauge double track built from 1.1 million tonnes of ballast, more than 400,000 concrete sleepers, and almost 30,000 tonnes of iron rail.
In June, the company was also awarded a contract for a $3.4bn propane dehydrogenation unit in Antwerp, Belgium, by US chemicals company, Ineos.
As part of its contract, SKEC will deliver front-end engineering design (Feed) services for the project, which with a capacity of 750 kilotons per annum, will come online in 2023. PDH is a process to produce propylene by removing hydrogen from propane gas.
