American giant Parsons at tech 'tipping point' in Saudi Arabia
EXCLUSIVE: Tech to help drive cost efficiencies in the future, SVP John Rinard, says during Leaders KSA Roundtable 2019
American engineering company Parsons Corporation's senior vice president, John Rinard, told Construction Week that the company is at a “tipping point” with the use of technology in its Saudi Arabia division, adding that Vision 2030 was driving demand for tools such as building information modelling (BIM) in the kingdom.
Speaking as part of Construction Week's Leaders in Construction KSA Roundtable 2019 – held ahead of the Leaders in Construction KSA Awards 2019 on 30 September in Riyadh – Rinard outlined the company’s plans for technology in Saudi Arabia.
He explained: “We are at a tipping point at the moment with technology and Vision 2030 is pushing [tools] like BIM along.
“However, labour is more expensive – therefore, technology will be used to find new efficiencies in cost.”
Rinard was joined on the roundtable by Parsons' senior business development manager, Mohammed Nabeel Ali; Salfo & Associates' area director for the Middle East, Konstantinos Dimitros; Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors' training development manager, Phil Wittam; HKA partner, John McKevitt; and Reed Smith’s Middle East head, Sachin Kerur.
The Leaders in Construction KSA Awards 2019 were supported by Gold Sponsors Parsons, Arabian Construction Co (ACC), C&P, HFW, and Salfo; Silver Sponsors, Khatib & Alami, Al Tamimi & Co, and Al Nasser Group; Category Sponsor, Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors; Legal Partner, Reed Smith; and Official Claims Partner, HKA.
