Podcast: RICS says smarter city-building can change the world
EXCLUSIVE: RICS’ Samer Bagaeen tells CW how smart cities can unlock growth potential throughout the region
Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) says tackling environment challenges can help accelerate the growth of smart cities across the Middle East.
In this episode of Construction Week Viewpoint, RICS’s thought leadership partnerships manager, Samer Bagaeen, tells Construction Week’s features writer, Ashley Williams, about the body's plan to help communities and cities overcome hurdles such as globalisation, urbanisation, digitalisation, and climate change.
Bagaeen also spoke about how Middle Eastern cities could help achieve net-zero target for carbon emissions.
“In terms of RICS, our interest as a professional body is primarily to our members and making sure there is enough of a pipeline of surveyors coming through that can work in this enabling environment and to support it,” Bagaeen said.
“We also have a future stream of work, which is effectively equipping the next generation of surveyors in order to be able to tackle the challenges of globalisation, urbanisation, digitalisation and climate change.”
