Member of the central committee of the Communist Party of China, Hu Heping said that the UAE is a key component of the Belt and Road Initiative during a lecture hosted by Abu Dhabi's Emirates Centre for Strategic Studies and Research on 10 November.

During his lecture titled "The Communist Party of China’s Ideas on State Governance in the Seventy Years since the Establishment of Modern China," Heping discussed China’s relationship with the UAE, particularly concerning the Belt and Road Initiative, stating that the UAE plays a pivotal role.

In addition to supporting the initiative as a financial hub, Heping also pointed to the UAE's transport links and large ports, which are well positioned to service trade between Asia, Africa and Europe.

According to state news agency, Wam, Heping also highlighted joint projects between the two countries and the determination of leaders from both nations to promote bilateral relations. He pointed to nearly 3m Chinese expatriates living and working in the UAE, with more than 1m Chinese tourists visit the UAE each year.
