Dewa reduces time for 150kw connection process to five days
Commercial and industrial customers – who require up to 150kW – can complete the connections process within 5 days
The Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (Dewa) announced that it has further reduced the time to complete the one-step process for new connections.
According to Dewa, commercial and industrial customers – who require connections of up to 150kW – will now be able to complete the new connections process within five days, rather than seven days.
The UAE, represented by Dewa, already has the shortest time in the world to “get electricity” according to the World Bank’s Doing Business 2020 report. Dewa achieved 100% in all of the Getting Electricity indicators in the World Bank report.
Dewa has also announced plans to continue waiving deposits and charges for connections up to 150kW, as it aims to boost Dubai's economy.
Commenting on the announcement, managing director and chief executive officer of Dewa, HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, said: “We support the vision of HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai; and the directives of His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of the Executive Council of Dubai, to make business easier in Dubai to make it more attractive for investment.”
Dewa has also achieved competitive results in global benchmarking, with the lowest customer minutes lost per year (CML) in the world of 2.39 CML, compared to 15 minutes in Europe.
