Bus services launched between Ras Al Khaimah and Abu Dhabi
Effective immediately, buses will travel between Abu Dhabi and Ras Al Khaimah on Thursday, Friday and Saturdays
Abu Dhabi’s Integrated Transport Centre (ITC) has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Ras Al Khaimah’s (RAK) Transport Authority to create bus services between the two emirates.
The agreement was signed by Maktoum Al Kaabi, the executive director of the technology and transport systems sector at ITC and HE Eng Ismail Hassan Al Balooshi, director-general of RAK Transport Authority.
Buses will now leave Ras Al Khaimah to Abu Dhabi at 10am and 3pm and return to Ras Al Khaimah at 2:30pm and 7:30pm every Thursday, Friday and Saturday.
The move is part of the government’s efforts to develop the public bus transport infrastructure and boost the quality of the services provided.
“It is important to set performance indicators and standards to assess the success of such services that in turn will establish an integrated and efficient transport network that is safe and secured,” said ITC’s Al Kaabi.
“This transport network will also encourage the public to improve their travel behaviour and use alternative modes of transport.”
Meanwhile, HE Eng Ismail Hassan Al Balooshi, believed that the MoU was an indicator of the strategic partnership between both parties and enhances the cooperation opportunities in the public transport sector, as well as following the “remarkable development” of the transport sector in the UAE.
