The Saudi Commission for Tourism & National Heritage (SCTH) has announced that visitors to the kingdom who have existing UK, US, and Schengen visas will be eligible for visa on arrival at airports and border crossings, regardless of their citizenship.

In order to benefit from the new regulation, the visitors need to have travelled to one of these countries prior to entering Saudi Arabia.

The benefit will be offered only on the ‘visa on arrival’ category and will not be included for those applying for e-visas.

Saudi Arabia’s General Authority of Civil Aviation has already issued a communique to national airlines to allow holders of such visas to travel to the kingdom after verifying the visas and before completing the travel procedures.

Currently, citizens from 49 countries are eligible to apply for an e-visa online or get a visa on arrival into Saudi Arabia.

The tourist visa permtis for a stay of up to three months per entry, with visitors able to spend 90 days per year in Saudi Arabia. The visa is valid for one year, with multiple entries.

This decision is in line with Saudi Arabia’s aim to open its doors to visitors from around the world.

Construction Week reported in May 2019 that the number of foreign investor licences issued for the construction sector in Saudi Arabia increased by 77% in Q1 2019 compared to Q1 2018.
