Ducab launches metals subsidiary with copper, aluminium solutions
The business unit is aimed at supplying 'Made in UAE' copper and aluminium solutions to a global customer base
Copper and aluminium cables manufacturer Ducab, which is owned by Abu Dhabi’s General Holding Corporation (Senaat) and Investment Corporation Dubai, is consolidating its metal operations into its subsidiary Ducab Metals Business (DMB).
DMB is a dedicated business unit, which is aimed towards supplying locally-manufactured copper and aluminium solutions to a global customer base.
The Ducab subsidiary exports 75% of its production to more than 35 countries in the wider MEA region, Asia, Europe, and America.
In 2019 — before establishing the dedicated business venture — Ducab’s copper and aluminium business generated a revenue of more than $544.5m (AED2bn).
DMB is the only company in the region to provide both copper and aluminium solutions, and will be focused on catering to companies in the electrical manufacturing industry. It will have the capacity to design solutions which will be manufactured in its existing copper rod and aluminium factories, both of which are based in Abu Dhabi.
Commenting on the business venture, chairman of Ducab, Dr Ahmad Bin Hassan Al Shaikh, said: “The launch of DMB aligns with the growth of the metals segment within Ducab, and gives us the opportunity to focus a dedicated team on the needs of our metal customers.”
