Oman allocated $125m housing assistance requests in 2019
The Ministry of Housing approved 193 requests in the Governorate of Muscat, which accounted for $11.71m
Oman’s total financial allocations for housing assistance in 2019 amounted to approximately $125m (OMR48m) for requests registered in the Ministry of Housing’s programme.
The ministry offers assistance to citizens who aim to build a house valued within $52,000 (OMR20,000); or buy a ready house within a value of $65,000 (OMR25,000); or low-income families who need financial assistance from the government.
During 2019, the Ministry of Housing approved 193 housing assistance requests in the Governorate of Muscat, which accounted for a total of $11.71m (OMR4.51m), according to the state-run Oman News Agency.
In addition, the ministry approved 224 requests in the Dhofar governorate; 52 requests in the Musandam Governorate; 104 requests in the in Al Buraimi Governorate; and 128 requests in the Al Batinah governorate, among others.
In terms of provinces, the South Eastern Province witnessed the approval of 377 housing assistance requests; the North Eastern Province saw 239 requests being approved; and the Central Governorate witnessed 27 requests for housing assistance approved, among others.
