The Fujairah Charity Association has allocated $13.34m (AED49.35m) for Ramadan projects in 2020, which marks a 16% increase compared to the amount allocated for projects in 2019.

The association has completed preparations for a wide range of programmes aimed at providing for families in need, including UAE citizens and residents, the chairman of the association’s board of directors, Saeed bin Mohammed Al Raqbani said.

He pointed out that the society spent $11.43m (AED42m) during Ramadan in 2019, which benefit 371,648 individuals, through projects related to zakat money, fasting-breaking, and other causes.

The association hopes that 431,111 individuals will benefit from the Ramadan projects in 2020, according to state-run news agency, Wam.

For the fifth year in a row, the association will involve 38 families in the fasting-breaking project, a 15% increase compared to last year, at 31 breakfast sites.

An average of 4,100 meals will be distributed per day to those fasting, with a total of 123,000 breakfast meals during the month, he added.

In addition, approximately 3,000 underprivileged families from across Fujairah will benefit from the Ramadan Food Assistance project in 2020.
