The world’s largest aluminium smelter outside of China, Aluminium Bahrain (Alba), has highlighted safety, production and costs as its three main objectives for success in 2020.

The goals set out by the firm’s chief executive officer, Ali Al Baqali, is to build upon Alba’s successful 2019 despite global headwinds, volatile London Metal Exchange (LME) price and weak economic sentiment prevailing throughout the GCC markets.

Alba has set a production target of more than 1.54 million metric tonne by 2020, and to build upon its cost-improvement Project Titan Programme.

Commenting on the objectives, Alba CEO, Ali Al Baqali said: “Alba can only control what is intrinsic to its operations: safety, production and cost. In light of the current circumstances, we have activated our response strategy to ensure the Safety of our people and continuity of our operations.”
