COVID-19: Oman's MPI Construction to protect workers
Workers will have temperatures taken and signs will be posted with information regarding COVID-19 symptoms
Oman-based civil and construction engineering company, MPI Construction (MPI), is taking a number of measures to protect their workers on a construction site and in the offices to combat the threat of COVID-19.
As part of the measures implemented by the firm, all workers have their temperatures taken at the beginning of each workday before entering the site.
Signs with information regarding COVID-19 symptoms have been posted all over the sites along with guidelines for hand-washing and hand-sanitising techniques.
MPI has also distributed posters prohibiting people from shaking hands, sharing mobile phones, using public landlines to build further awareness of prevention methods.
Additional cleaning and disinfection procedures have been implemented at offices including wiping down door handles, elevator buttons and switches, work areas and office automation equipment at regular intervals.
Camp officers in charge of labour accommodation are currently tasked with monitoring worker health in specific regard to the new coronavirus to ensure quick and speedy action if required.
Commenting on the safety measures, MPI Construction managing director Indi Johal said: “Safety first isn’t just something we say, but what we continuously work towards as an organisation. And right now, our topmost priority is making sure that our workers on site are both safe and aware.”
