Alba reveals strategy to protect employees from COVID-19
The firm has activated its response strategy based on recommendations from global health organisations
The world’s largest aluminium smelter outside of China, Aluminium Bahrain (Alba) has launched its response strategy featuring a number of safety measures for its workers to combat the threat of COVID-19.
Following the directives and recommendations of the Kingdom of Bahrain, Alba is putting on COVID-19 awareness sessions for employees and contractors, which are being conducted by Alba's Health Care team regularly via video-messaging and online platforms.
Other measures launched by the firm comprise sanitisation of different departments and shop-floor areas, social distance markings, distribution of protective kits comprising gloves and masks as well as hand sanitisers, and increasing hand sanitiser dispenser units across the company.
Additionally, the firm will provide only take-away or delivery service from its canteens.
In line with His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa’s gesture of empowering mothers to work from home, Alba is also allowing remote working for all its employees, in particular women and senior staff.
Employees and contractors were also invited to join Alba’s volunteering team, which is part of TEAM Bahrain, to help fight the spread of COVID-19.
Commenting on the response strategy, Alba’s chief executive officer, Ali Al Baqali, said: “The health and safety of our human assets, employees and contractors, are paramount to Alba. We will go above and beyond for the safety of our people to maintain smooth operations.”
