UAE’s Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (MoHRE) and the Federal Authority for Identity and Citizenship have exempted labourers, whose work permits and residence visas have expired from medical tests.

The UAE’s state-owned news agency, Wam, reported that work permits and residence visas will be issued and renewed automatically for labourers employed by companies and support service staff as domestic workers.

The move comes in line with the authorities' support towards precautionary measures adopted by the UAE to reduce the spread of coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic in the country.

As part of the measures adopted by the authorities, fees for labourers’ visas and work permits will be collected through the authorised payment channels, with the workers legally remaining the residents of the UAE.

The Federal Authority for Identity and Citizenship urged business owners to report any suspected case of COVID-19 among their workers.

Additionally, it also called on all workers in the UAE to follow the precautionary instructions issued aganist COVID-19.
