Pipeline technology specialist STATS Group has opened a workshop, storage and testing facility in Muscat as part of its plans to expand in the Middle East.

The move comes after securing a two year extension to a Master Services Agreement with Petroleum Development Oman (PDO) to provide pipeline isolation and hydrostatic testing services.

The firm is making strides in the Middle East having trebled the size of its operation in Abu Dhabi to a larger workshop and office facility in the Mussafah district.

STATS Group Middle East director, Angus Bowie, said the expansion in Oman and Abu Dhabi opens up “new opportunities” for its existing clients in the region.

“The PDO Master Service Agreement is an important contract and we are delighted it has been extended further,” said Bowie.

“The new facility in Oman will help support this contract and having a local presence gives us a platform to extend our footprint in the Sultanate and wider Middle East region.”
