“We are keen to aid efforts to accelerate government measures to restore normal life”: Emaar’s Mohamed Alabbar
Dubai Financial Market-listed real estate giant Emaar Properties has donated $27.22m (AED100m) to the Social Solidarity Fund against COVID-19 launched by the Islamic Affairs and Charitable Activities Department in Dubai to support humanitarian efforts aimed at alleviating the impact of the pandemic.
Emaar’s gesture reflects the UAE business community’s commitment to contribute towards the community’s wellbeing, according to the state-run news agency, Wam.
Commenting on the initiative, the chairman of Emaar Properties, Mohamed Alabbar, said: “This crisis has impacted everyone, and we are keen to aid efforts to accelerate government measures to restore normal life.”
Alabbar added: “To mitigate the current situation, we need to streamline the efforts of both corporates and individuals. We cannot do this without a keen awareness of our responsibilities."
The Emaar Group has stated that it will continue to monitor developments and prevention measures across the world, and update its actions based on how the global situation evolves.
The initiative is also aligned with the UAE’s #StayHome campaign aimed at combating the COVID-19 pandemic.
