EGA, Bee’ah, DP World, Masdar roll out Vital Industry COVID-19 taskforce

Together the companies said that "vital industries" should share their response to common challenges caused by the pandemic

Emirates Global Aluminium (EGA), Bee’ah, DP World, and Masdar have joined hands to roll out the Vital Industry COVID-19 taskforce, which will bring together health and safety executives responsible for managing the response to the pandemic at these companies.

According to EGA, executives participating in the Task Force will together discuss efforts to prevent the spread of the virus, protect industrial workers, and support communities across the UAE.

EGA’s executive vice president of EHSSQ and business transformation, Salman Abdulla; CEO of consultancy, research, and innovation (CRI) at Bee’ah, Mohamed Al Hosani; vice president of HSE at DP World, Jason Pratt; and senior manager of nvestment Lifecycle Management at Masdat, Sahil Thapa.

The Task Force was launched by the founding members via a video conference, with all the other meetings being organised virtually in light of the situation surrounding COVID-19.

Speaking about the task force, founding member of EGA, Salman Abdulla, said: “Companies in vital industries share many common challenges tackling COVID-19, making it valuable to share what we have learnt so that we can continue to improve our response.”
Meanwhile, the founding member of Bee’ah, Mohamed Al Hosani, said: “The COVID-19 pandemic has impacted everyone from governments, private sector, and individuals, due to the nature of our interconnected environment.

Al Hosni said that it was the responsibility of various companies to come together and exchange  best practices on how they have responded to the current COVID-19 crisis, and work collectively to find solutions.

He added that, during the time of crisis, Bee’ah ensured continuity of essential operations for communities, introduced value-added services for other businesses to protect their workers, and was a key partner for the UAE National Disinfection Programme.

DP World, on the other hand, has been maintaining a continuity of its tradeflow to make sure that countries receive vital goods including food and medicines, according to the founding member of DP World, Jason Pratt.

Similarly, the founding member of Masdar, Sahil Thapa, said: “We are fully behind the measures the UAE government is taking to help contain the spread of the virus, and eager to support collaborative initiatives such as the Vital Industry Task Force to share knowledge and best practice with our peers.”
