Qatar is considered to be the world’s fastest-growing economy, with an expected 20% growth rate in 2011, according to a recent report from the International Monetary Fund.

The IMF report has revealed that Qatar securing the 2022 FIFA Soccer World Cup has positioned the country as the most valuable construction site globally in dollars per square metre.

An estimated $100billion in planned investments will take place over the next 12 years. This includes $4billion for constructing and renovating 12 stadia.

“All eyes are on Qatar right now, which has ably transformed itself as a key business and investment hub for the Middle East region,” said Shaikhani Contracting MD Rizwan Shaikhani.

“The country’s emergence as one of the world’s fastest-developing economies has allowed us to look into reinforcing our presence in Qatar’s construction segment,” said Shaikhani.
