The Khalifa Port and industrial Zone is “ahead of its construction schedule,” according to Abu Dhabi Port Company (ADPC) executive VP Khaled Salmeen.

“The port is 90% done, while Phase One of the Khalifa Industrial Zone Abu Dhabi (Kizad) is 78% complete,” confirmed Salmeen.

Kizad is a 417km2 industrial zone between Abu Dhabi and Dubai, featuring an advanced deepwater seaport. The budget of Phase One, covering 51km2, is $7.2bn. It set to open in Q4 2012. Kizad forms part of the Abu Dhabi Economic Vision 2030.
