Roadways and walkways will also be built to access the projects, with all coffee shops, restaurants, retail and commercial enterprises following the Chinese theme.
“This is a significant step towards further cementing the existing historic ties between Bahrain and China,” said Abdul Hakim Al Khayyat. “This project will make a significant contribution to the development of Bahrain’s economic and cultural sectors, attracting more than half a million visitors a year.”
Diyar Al Muharraq operates under the Kuwait Finance House Bahrain, and Chinamex operates under the Chinese Ministry of Commerce.
The Dragon Mart in Dubai, which is currently undergoing a major extension, is an existing example of a Chinamex regional venture.
