Consolidated Contractors Company (CCC) have signed a $69.4m deal with Haya Water to develop the Qurm and Madinat al Ilam phase of the utility provider’s Bausher wastewater project to the southwest of Muscat.

The Greek contractor will deliver a wide range of services, including 40km of sewer pipes, 66km of lateral pipes, 13 pumping stations, 885 manholes, 5,600 inspection chambers and around 5,000 home and government property connections.

The contract is one of the most important elements of the overall Bausher water re-use project, and will deliver services to over 20,000 people. It was signed for by Eng Sultan bin Hamdoon al Harthy, chairman of Haya Water, and Fathi Ahmed, regional managing director of CCC.

The project duration is 30 months, and services are expected to be delivered by the end of 2014.

Haya Water will award a further four projects by the end of the year worth an estimated $390m for the development of a sewage treatment plant and three networks linked to wastewater systems in Amerat.

“The contracts have already been tendered and we are in the process of receiving and evaluating bids. I hope we will award these four projects by the end of this year,” said Hussain Hassan Ali Abdul Hussain, CEO at Haya Water, speaking to Muscat Daily.

Haya Water also has 12 ongoing projects, of which six are in the Seeb area and others in the Bausher, Wadi Kabir and Darsait areas.

“The total value of the 12 ongoing projects is around $1.3bn. These include two treatment plants in Seeb and Darsait with a capacity of 80,000m3 and 40,000m3 per day, respectively,” said Abdul Hussain.
