Tourism Development & Investment Company (TDIC), master developer of major tourism, cultural and residential destinations in Abu Dhabi, received four prestigious awards for its developments across its portfolio of hospitality projects, including the flagship project Saadiyat, at the World Travel Awards 2014 Middle East Gala Ceremony.

Saadiyat once again received the ‘Middle East’s Leading Beach Destination’ award, while Qasr Al Sarab Desert Resort by Anantara won ‘UAE’s Leading Desert Resort’. Eastern Mangroves Suites by Jannah won ‘UAE’s Leading Serviced Apartments’, and St. Regis Saadiyat Island Resort & Spa won ‘Abu Dhabi’s Leading Beach Resort’.

Ali Al Hammadi, deputy managing director at TDIC, said: “We are pleased that a range of our developments have won these prestigious awards, which not only reflect their popularity but also re-affirm TDIC’s commitment to provide high-quality products across the Emirate. In addition to enhancing Abu Dhabi’s current real estate, tourism, retail and cultural offerings, our portfolio has also been designed with the aim of supporting the Emirate’s goal to be a destination of choice for visitors from around the world.”

Patrick Both, general manager of Qasr Al Sarab Desert Resort by Anantara, said: “This is the third year in a row that Qasr Al Sarab Desert Resort by Anantara is awarded the UAE’s leading desert resort. It goes on to show that the unique desert experience that we offer in Abu Dhabi today is really like no other in the whole region.”

Saadiyat is set to become one of the Emirate’s future leading tourism destinations, and a prime address for high-end residential, educational, cultural, hospitality, and leisure developments along with state-of-the-art commercial facilities. Once completed, the 27km2 natural island will house around 145,000 residents, offering at the same time an entirely unique experience for travellers, including access to the island’s three prized museums, Louvre Abu Dhabi, Zayed National Museum and Guggenheim Abu Dhabi, which are set to open in 2015, 2016 and 2017 respectively.

The World Travel Awards is acknowledged around the world as one of the highest recognition for a travel product, celebrating excellence in the global and travel tourism industry.
