United Development Company (UDC), the master developer of the The Pearl-Qatar, has announced that Badr Al-Meer, has stepped down from his post as acting CEO.

The company said that Turki Al-Khater, chairman of the board, will temporarily undertake the duties of managing director until a permanent CEO is appointment.

UDC said that Al-Meer announced his plans to return to his former position within Qatar Airways and Hamad International Airport.

Al-Meer was appointed acting CEO in November 2013.

UDC, one of Qatar’s major publicly traded shareholding companies, is perhaps best known for being the master developer of The Pearl, Qatar, an artificial island spanning nearly 4m m2.

Companies under UDC’s umbrella include United Facilities Management, United Fashion Company, Hospitality Development Company and others.
