Arab Engineering Bureau, the Qatar-based building consultant run by Ibrahim Jaidah, has signed a contract with Barwa Real estate to provide design and consultancy services for the expansion of the Barwa Village project on Al Wakrah Road.
The project, which is close to both Hamad International Airport and the F-ring road, has seen 468 homes and 918 residential unit built under the first phase, alongside facilities such as a school, nursery, hypermarket, mosque, an office building, medical centre and fitness club.
The expansion will see a 120,000ft2 plot developed. It will contain a mix of uses including retail, showroom and residential facilities.
Around 350,000m2 of buildings will be constructed, including a strip building with ground floor retail and two floors of residential units above, with two plaza buildings containing a ground and mezzanine floors. In total, 119 shops and 88 residential units will be built.
Work is set to start on site in June this year, with completion expected at the end of 2016.
Arab Engineering Bureau is also currently designing the Motor City project for Barwa Real Estate.
