Four apartment units facing Kaaba’s grand mosque in Mecca are reportedly on sale, Al Riyadh daily has reported.

Wealthy Saudi businessmen have their eyes on the upcoming May 11 auction of the fully furnished units, which are believed to be worth $29.3m (SAR110m) in total.

Two of the units, measuring 190 m2 and 195 m2, are estimated to be worth $6.6m (SAR25m) and $8m (SAR30m) respectively.

The units, located at the 6th tower, are owned by Mecca Development Company.

The remaining two units are 235 m2 in size and located in tower four.

Facing south across the mosque, the units are considered to be some of the most expensive real estate in the world.

All units enjoy easy access to the grand mosque, car parking and nearby shopping centres.

Potential owners will be asked to provide a certified $26,667 (SAR100,000) cheque to enter the auction which will close bidding a day before the sale.

Adjoining real estate, where hotel and mixed-use developments have been built, is one of the pricest – selling at $226, 669 – $240,003 (SAR850,000-SAR900,000) per sqm.
