From next year it should be easier to hire employees working in the private sector.
As of 2017, a new electronic system will be used to expedite hiring in Qatar, the country’s labour ministry has said.
This comes on the back of the country’s Prime Minister vowing to simplify the current work visa procedures, which often involve extensive approval waiting times.
Another challenge is obtaining visas for staff based on their countries of origin and the anticipated positions they are expected to fill once in Qatar.
Lower oil prices and the consequent budget deficit however, have forced Qatar to accelerate private sector development, Doha News reported.
When the new e-system takes effect, it will phase out the current standing committee for recruitment and the software will manage the process for new staff visas with the employer.
The Ministry of Administrative Development, Labour and Social Affairs outlined in a statement that the system will take into account and explain Qatar’s nationality requirements for specific positions.
It added this will help develop transparency and stop repeat approval applications.
