Dubai-based MBF Group has inked an agreement with Ichez Housing and Nixon to construct an “integrated medical city” in Islamabad in a bid to cater to growing demand for specialist healthcare in Pakistan.
The agreement, according to UAE state news agency WAM, will include the construction of a hospital that will “provide medical services at international standards”.
The medical city will be located within the 10ha Gulberg Greens housing project in the country’s capital.

HH Shaikh Mohammad Bin Faisal Al Qasimi, founder and owner of the MBF Group, said the project will include a 400-bed university hospital, offering quality levels of healthcare services.
He added that investment provided for the medical city has reached $970m, noting also in a statement his desire for all parties to complete on time given the growing demand for medical services in Islamabad and the need to provide specialist health services that are currently not available.
Expected to serve some one million patients and clients on a monthly basis, the city will also feature a medical mall – a first for the country, as well as therapeutic and recreational areas, a regional cardiology centre, and an orthopaedic centre.

MBF Group, which has interests in healthcare, IT and retail across the Middle East and North Africa, will manage the city’s 1,000 medical, technical and administrative staff – all of whom will be Pakistanis, according to the news outlet.
Nixon will represent the group in Pakistan, the MBF founder said, adding the medical city will also be their first joint project.
