Six people under the age of 30 have been shortlisted to be crowned Rising Star of the Year at the Construction Week Oman Awards 2019.

Al Mundhar Al Nasri, a 29-year-old project engineer with KEO International Consultants, has made the cut. Having worked on a string of public and private projects in Oman, he’s amassed expertise in environmental and coastal engineering, making him a sought-after asset for his employe.

Lalbuksh Voltas Engineering Services & Trading’s Thouraiah Al Jawahi is a quality surveyor who has discovered a hidden talent for costing and estimation since joining the company in 2015. Al Jawahi has also shown enthusiasm to advance her career by developing value engineering techniques and using Autocad.

R Bharath Kumar Reddy, assistant manager of quality assurance and quality control at Larsen & Toubro, is on the shortlist. He has spearheaded some impressive initiatives for his company, including using zero slump concrete for an in-situ kerb paving, reducing costs by 30%.

Khatib & Alami design architect, Mariam Maan Al Taie, joins the shortlist due to her ability to build strong relationships with major authorities, such as Muscat Municipality.

Another design-minded talent on the Rising Star of the Year shortlist is Osama Saud Al Kharusi, assistant architect at Hoehler + alSalmy. Having joined the business as an intern, his hard work and technical excellence soon earned him a full-time contract. It’s been an upward trajectory ever since and Al Kharus has helped to deliver a number of residential, educational, and government projects to date.

Omani local Usama Al Kindi, an architect at Kettle Collective, rounds up the shortlist. His portfolio includes Damac’s Port Sultan Qaboos and the up-and-coming Al Mouj community in Muscat. He is the third Omani national to meet all of the qualification standards set out by the Royal Institute of British Architects.
