Duqm Airport is one of the infra projects shortlisted for CW Oman Awards 2019.

Three standout projects are in the running to win Infrastructure Project of the Year honours at the Construction Week Oman Awards 2019.

Package 3 of Duqm Airport project was nominated by the Omani arm of Larsen & Toubro (L&T) for the category. In its nomination, the India-headquartered engineering and contracting giant said it employed a large number of nationals during the construction project, in addition to local companies and procuring materials from homegrown schemes.

The eight-lane Batinah Expressway also makes the cut in this year's shortlist. Apart from its potential to boost urban development in the area, the road, nominated by L&T Oman, will handle the extra load factor that has been generated due to shift in commercial activities from Port Sultan Qaboos to Sohar Port.

The sultanate’s Mazoon Dairy Company Farm, nominated by Aecom, rounds off this year’s shortlist for Infrastructure Project of the Year. By 2028, the farm will have the capacity to yield more than 270 million litres a year, establishing Oman as a net exporter of dairy products in the next 20 years.

Spread over three years, Phase 1 of the dairy farm will house more than 6,500 cows, producing 170,000 litres of milk per day with expansion plans also on the cards.

The winners of CW Oman Awards 2019 will be announced at a gala ceremony to be held at Kempinski Hotel Muscat on 25 March, 2019.
