Voltas Oman’s work on Al Araimi Boulevard Mall's sewage treatment plant landed the contractor Sustainability Initiative of the Year honours at the Construction Week Oman Awards 2019.

The sewage treatment plant that Voltas Oman, backed by India's Tata Group, built in Muscat will treat liquid waste that can be reused as water for irrigation after it has been cleaned. It will also create organic fertilisers – and judges were highly complementary of the recycling project.

Sohar Steel was another finalist in the Sustainability Initiative of the Year category. The company made the cut after completing an environmental declaration that means its products are listed on Green Book Live.

Voltas Oman picked up its award at the Kempinski Hotel Muscat on Monday, 25 March, 2019, which was attended by the country's most senior construction professionals.

The Construction Week Oman Awards 2019 were supported by platinum sponsor S&T Interiors and Contracting; gold sponsor HFW; heavy commercial vehicles partners Mohsin Haider Darwish and Ford Trucks; supporting sponsor CIOB; show partner The Big Show Oman; and intelligence sponsor ProTenders.
