Duqm Airport is CW Oman Awards 2019's Infrastructure Project of the Year.

Package 3 of Duqm Airport has been named Construction Week Oman Awards 2019’s Infrastructure Project of the Year after being nominated in the category by Indian contracting giant Larsen & Toubro Oman (L&T Oman).

The critical aviation project reaped in plaudits from judges for supporting Omanisation efforts by employing hundreds of Omani staff and procuring homegrown materials wherever possible.

Judges praised L&T Oman for achieving zero accidents on the project despite “tough environmental conditions”.

With two projects in the final shortlist of three, L&T Oman had a good chance of coming out on top, with its eight-lane Batinah Expressway also shortlisted as one of the country’s best infrastructure developments.

Aecom nominated the Mazoon Dairy Company Farm, which is set to transform Oman into a net exporter of dairy produce during the next two decades, for the category.

A finalist from the three projects was selected during a glamorous black-tie ceremony held at the Kempinski Hotel Muscat on Monday, 25 March, 2019.

The Construction Week Oman Awards 2019 were supported by platinum sponsor S&T Interiors and Contracting; gold sponsor HFW; heavy commercial vehicles partners Mohsin Haider Darwish and Ford Trucks; supporting sponsor CIOB; show partner The Big Show Oman; and intelligence sponsor ProTenders.
