CW Awards 2019: Commercial Project of the Year shortlist announced

The shortlisted nominees for the Commercial Project of the Year category at the Construction Week Awards 2019 have been revealed.

The coveted honour of the Commercial Project of the Year will be handed out to the project that makes an important contribution to the surrounding environment or community, demonstrates construction best practice, and can show how construction techniques and technology have contributed to the project’s success.

For its 4D progress video reporting, BIM design development, as-built 3D scanner, and its introduction of the WAR room, ALEC’s Mobility Pavilion at the Expo 2020 Dubai site appears as one of this year’s frontrunners for Commercial Project of the Year.

The project also includes a waste management plan that promotes 85% of construction and demolition materials to be reused or recycled.

A regular name at the Construction Week Awards, Voltas Limited is also in the running for its 12.7ha Qasr Al Hosn project, which the company says has “gained prominence as a modern heritage landmark, and is registered as one of Abu Dhabi’s cherished cultural heritage resources.”

For its active-lit façade, innovative structural design, and high-tech digital integration, ASGC Construction’s 50ha multi-purpose air-conditioned Coca-Cola Arena in City Walk, with a seating capacity of 17,000 has also been shortlisted for the prestigious award.

Douglas OHI’s VOX Cinemas at City Centre Sohar; The Offices 4 and 5 by Dubai World Trade Centre; KEO International Consultants’ Burj Alshaya and Four Seasons Hotel; Cundall Johnston & Partners’ Cundall New Dubai Office; Gulf Related’s The Galleria at Al Maryah Island; and RMJM’s Souq Extra Silicon Oasis, Phase 2 project have also made the cut.

In addition, Khatib & Alami's Specialist Hospital Extension project and Services & Trade Co's The Water-front mixed-use project have been shortlisted for the CW Awards 2019 to be held on 4 December at JW Marriott Marquis, Dubai.
