One of the Middle East’s largest MEP contracting companies James L Williams Middle East (JLW Middle East) – which specialises in design, build, and EPC capabilities – has joined the Construction Week Awards 2019 event as the Gold Sponsor for the 15th iteration to be held on 4 December, 2019, at the JW Marriott Marquis in Dubai.
The CW Awards has established itself as the region’s premier, high-level construction honours ceremony, and recognises individual excellence, corporate prowess, and project success.
JLW Middle East – which manages more than 7,500 employees, including 2,500 direct employees, and 5,000 specialist sub-contractors under its management – has a number of commendable projects wins, including the Expo 2020 Dubai Sustainability District project, The Dubai Mall Zabeel Expansion, Bluewaters Hospitality District (Caesars Palace Hotel and serviced apartments), Masdar Neighbourhood 2, Al Maryah Central (Galleria) Mall, ICD Brookfield Place, all started at different times and scheduled for completion in 2019.
JLW Middle East is on course to deliver projects with a combined MEP value of $408.36m (AED1.5bn).
In conversation with Construction Week on the firm’s projects, COO of JLW Middle East, Ramy Boufarhat, said: “It’s not only our ability to deliver projects, it’s the type of projects we are delivering and the types of projects our clients engage us on – all the ones mentioned are either technically challenging, very fast-track (requiring mass pre-fabrication), or are prestigious projects requiring a certain level of superior quality.”
Boufarhat added: “At our core – we are a design and build contractors; so we are used to taking a concept, executing a design fit for purpose, constructing what we have designed in the most optimal way, ensuring authority approvals and handing over to clients. Our clients, consultants and the authorities know us to be reliable – just ask them.”
JLW Middle East is scheduled to complete a number of projects in H2 2019 and H1 2020, and the company is actively tendering new projects to fulfil its order books for 2020.
Sharing his thoughts on the outlook for 2020, Boufarhat said: “We are confident that growth in the infrastructure market will be a driving factor within the UAE economy over the coming years and JLW are ideally placed to assist the UAE in delivering these works.”
“Expansion within the GCC is certainly an agenda item for JLW but it is not an item which is being rigorously pursued. We see that there are opportunities for a company with the skill set and experience of JLW to expand within the GCC but the key to such a move is entering other regional markets at the correct time with the correct opportunities,” Boufarhat added.
This will be the first time that the EPC giant is a sponsor for CW Awards.
