CW Awards 2019: Cundall named Consultancy of the Year
Cundall emerged as winners for Consultancy of the Year at the awards in Dubai, with Aurecon claiming Highly Commended
Global firm Cundall has won the Consultancy of the Year category at the 2019 Construction Week Awards, which was held at Dubai’s JW Marriott Marquis in Business Bay on 4 December.
The Consultancy of the Year honour, which is one of our hotly contested categories, attracted 18 submissions.
We whittled that figure down to 13 for the shortlist, and following plenty of deliberation from our four judges, Cundall came out on top as the Consultancy of the Year.
The judges were very impressed with Cundall’s submission and believed that it showed the quality of the consultancy firm.
Cundall has been involved with projects such as the Dubai South Hangar, the University of Wollongong in Dubai, and the Enoc Expo pavilion.
Commenting on the honour, operations director at Cundall – Dubai, Lee French, said: “To us this means everything. It is the culmination of all the hard work of every single engineer who’ve worked on all the projects. This means a ton to us. This is why we do what we do. Genuinely, this means everything.”
Sharing her thoughts on the award, the head of Business Development and Marketing MENA at Cundall, Olga Rowley, said: “This is an amazing recognition for our team. It means a lot to us, definitely.”
French added: “The biggest delivery for us this year has been our own office. We’ve allowed our staff to design, engineer, and deliver it … and what a fantastic building it has turned out to be. We’re so proud of the building and our staff. It’s hard to single out any specific project, but every new build, every commercial fit-out that we have delivered has culminated in this award.”
The Highly Commended honour went to Melbourne-headquartered engineering, advisory, and design firm Aurecon, with the judges highlighting its professionalism and knowledge of cost parameters, as well as value engineering requirements.
Over the past 12 months, Aurecon has been involved with projects such as CoEx Dubai Expo 2020, The Tower at Dubai Creek Harbour, and House of Wisdom development in Sharjah.
The shortlist for the Consultancy of the Year accolade, in addition to Cundall and Aurecon, included AESG, Atkins, WSP, Khatib & Alami, Brewer Smith Brewer Group (BSBG), DeSimone Consulting Engineers, KEO International Consultants, Linesight, Ramboll, and Turner & Townsend International Ltd, and Hoehler + alSalmy.
